Chicago AMA Member Testimonials

The ongoing volunteer work of our Chicago AMA members demonstrate one of the many reasons that Chicago AMA has embraced Taproot Foundation as its official philanthropic partner.

One such member, Tanya Earley of USG Corporation, volunteered her time and marketing expertise to Inspiration Corporation, a Chicago nonprofit that provides essential supportive services and meals, employment training and housing to those affected by homelessness and poverty in an inspiring and enriching atmosphere.

Her role began as a Taproot Foundation Volunteer Account Manager in 2006, and she is now Account Director for Inspiration Corporation’s second Taproot Foundation service grant. Tanya will be leading efforts to evaluate the name and organization’s visual identity.

If you are a Chicago AMA member and Taproot Foundation volunteer and have testimony to contribute, please contact Michael Long at Chicago AMA at 312-280-0449 or info@chicagoama.org.

Taproot Foundation provides skilled marketers with a rare opportunity to empower a nonprofit organization to do great things using the tools we rely on everyday at work. Not only are you giving of your time, your insights and your knowledge, but you’re also able to make a difference in your community.

My experience with Taproot Foundation and my service grant recipient, Inspiration Corporation, has been truly uplifting. I feel a very personal connection to Inspiration Corporation, its staff, those they serve in the community and their mission. I am honored to play a part in building their brand so they are able to serve more people, while attracting more donors and volunteers.

As featured in Chicago AMA’s April 2008 issue of Interface magazine, Jennifer Connelly of Chicago AMA had the chance to speak with Inspiration Corporation’s executive director and CEO, John Pfeiffer, to learn more about his organization and how the Taproot Foundation has provided valuable assistance. Through its initiatives such as the Inspiration Cafe, Cafe Too, The Living Room Cafe and the Employment Project, Inspiration Corporation benefits more than 2,000 people each year and serves 22,000 meals through its restaurant environments.

John highlighted that Inspiration Corporation needed to uncover new, more concise ways to communicate the fullness of the organization’s mission. He mentioned that often times people come to them broken and in despair, and graduate achieving self sufficiency, fulfillment and happiness. Through their initial service grant with Taproot Foundation, the project team collaborated with them to redevelop the Inspiration Corporation brand position and key messages to clearly define the transformative nature of the organization’s work. Their 2007 grant entails a revitalization of the Inspiration Corporation visual identity and tagline development.

The life-changing nature of Inspiration Corporation is an experience that permeates from the person in need to those who work and volunteer there. Chicago AMA encourages its members to experience the brand by dining at Cafe Too, a social enterprise restaurant located at 4715 N. Sheridan Rd. (773-275-0626), where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner in a stylish setting – and the satisfaction of helping homeless men and women gain culinary training and jobs.
